SHAY ASTAR
Former child star Shay Astar might be familar to most of you from her appearances in film and TV (she was Tommy's girlfriend on "Third Rock from the Sun; she's also appeared in "Star Trek: The Next Generation," "ER," "China Beach," "The Lost," etc.), but she's not a kid anyomore -- she's making her mark as a musician: as part of the electro-folk duo Uffie, as a demo singer for Rancid frontman Tim Armstrong, and as a singer/songwriter, performing her own original folk songs.
With her first solo album; "Blue Music" just out, Shay is wowing audiences with her own personal brand of soulful indie folk (or is that folky indie soul?), graced with rich, melodious vocals, an effortless stage presence and a naked lyricism that isn't afraid to dig deep.
