BUTLER'S MUSIC WHO'S WHO
(In alphabetical order)
ADULISK
Know ye the Legend of Adulisk:
Once upon a time, on a cold and windy Saturday night, The Artist Formerly Known As Joe the Guitarist was sitting there in Butler's, minding his own, having a fine cup of their most delicious and excellent java, when the call went out through the land from a most frantic Kevin for any musicians in the house. Seems the headliners for the evening were no-shows, and lo, the people were in despair, for what could be more dreadful than a night without music? Well, Joe heard the call, and came through like the rock'n'roll hero he is. Trusty battered six string in hand, he took the stage and like a foo fighter of yore, promptly slew the dragon of despair.

THE BROWNE SISTERS and GEORGE CAVANAUGH
Don't tell anyone. Mild-mannered Butler's owner/manager Pam Browne has a secret identity -- she's also part of the celebrated Celtic folk-rock group: The Browne Sisters and George Cavanaugh. Yes, Butler's own Pam has been singing along with sisters Diane and Laura (yeah, that Laura), accompanied on vocals and guitar by their cousin George, for almost 20 years at concerts, festivals and Highland games throughout the United States, and have recorded six albums (so far). Always entertaining and eclectic, a typical Browne Sisters set includes centruies-old Gaelic ditites and traditional Irish and Scottish folk songs as well as selections by Stan Rogers, Dido and Kate Bush. Full of beautifully heart-tuggings harmonies and fearless arrangements, a Browne Sisters set is always magical. No wonder Pam, diane, Laura and George have been dubbed "the West Coast's First Family of Celtic Music."

LAURA BROWNE-SORENSON
It's always a family affair when Palmdale singer/songwriter Laura straps on her guitar and treats the Butler's audience to her heart-felt tunes of love, faith and family. A songwriter since she was 16, Laura easily weaves threads of everything from up-tempo pop and country to moving ballads and hauting Celtic melodies into her music. But that's no surprise -- she's also a member of The Browne Sisters and George Cavanaugh, the popular Celtic group that regularly plays festivals and concerts throughout the US.
Laura's song "I Will Think of You" was recently featured on Lifetime's Army Wives.

ANNA LAUBE
Anna was our very first Butlers Showcase (October 25, 2008), and as such, she'll always have a very special place in our hearts. An utterly charming performer, she played a warm, intimate set of her own songs, including cuts from both her first album and previewing some possible songs from her upcoming, as-yet-untitled sophomore CD. Accompanying herself on guitar and harmonica, her chops impressive, but it's her voice, a beguiling mix of little girl blues and grown woman sensuality, that brings her folk and blues-tinged tales of love's hard travels home.
"Anna Laube makes intimate, heartfelt songs rooted in traditional Americana. With a strong voice reminiscent of Neko Case or Jenny Lewis, Laube sings with a slight but refreshing country twang over a mix of blues, country and folk. "

VINCE M.
Singer-songwriter Vince will always hold a special place in our hearts, being the very first performer to ever play Butler's, opening our very first Semi-Open Mike Night back in October 2008.. And even better was the fact he was thoroughly entertaining. His crunchy, Replacements-style acoustic rock and Townes Van Zandt country-folk, plus his easy-going rapport with the audience, is everything we had hoped for.It was like hitting a homerun our first time at bat. He's since become something of a house favourite, frequently accompanied by his musical partner-in-crime, Bill B. (also of Keeftowne Blend), on bass.

INTERESTED IN JOINING OUR ROSTER?
We're always looking for local, acoustic-based musicians and singer-songwriters interested in honing their skills before a live audience.
After the encouraging success of Butlers' music program in our former Simi Valley location, it was a no-brainer.
Naturally, we're looking at bringing back our very popular Sunday Morning Brunch Programme, as well as BUTLERS SHOWCASES on Saturday nights and SEMI-OPEN MIKE nights, consisting of mini-sets from three or four acts on Tuesday evenings.
Folk, jazz, rock, soul, pop, blues... we're seeking to offer an eclectic but welcoming coffeehouse atmosphere, something currently sorely lacking in the Antelope Valley.
There won't be a mosh pit, smoke bombs, forty-three-piece choreographed dance troupes or ear-bleeding volume at the new Butler's -- just good, honest music you can wrap your ears around, while savouring a good, honest cup of coffee.
Naturally, there are a few basic ground rules but if you're a local musician or singer-songwriter interested in performing both original music and well-chosen covers, please fill out and mail (or just drop off) an application and a demo CD or cassette if available (or an URL to your music) to:
